ZimTracker is an impartial and apolitical not-for profit fact-checking organisation which aims to counter the growing rise of fake news, misinformation and disinformation on social and mainstream media in Zimbabwe.

ZimTracker will fact-check several topics from politics, finance, the environment, humanitarian issues, health, tourism, education, gender and human rights, children and women issues, governance, among other big topical issues of public interest.

We seek to de-mystify myths, dissect politics and policy and make office bearers and organisations account for their actions or inactions, check their consistency and provide a starting point for journalists to probe the truth further.

ZimTracker will also share its stories on social media platforms. It will also train and capacitate Zimbabwean journalists, news editors and editors on best fact checking methods.

It also seeks to enhance media literacy in disadvantaged communities..

ZimTracker is a member of the continental association of fact-checkers, Africa Check, as well as Africa Facts Network. We subscribe to international codes of principles for fact-checking.

Our reporters and editors are duly accredited with the Zimbabwe Media Commission and also follow the Voluntary Media Council of Zimbabwe (www.vmcz.co.zw) code of conduct.
